Desktop publishing (DTP) is an important step in providing strategic solutions for managing document translation. The companies that have an ongoing need to communicate business-critical information often have a need for DTP in conjunction with translation. DTP is often one of the last phases in a localization project, which gives a final look and feel to the localized materials. Even a small layout or typographical mistake may dramatically impact how the users perceive the product.

With multilingual desktop publishing (DTP) experience going back to 1998, BIOTRAN is capable of providing professional and competitive DTP services for more than 80 languages. As the text translation is usually conducted by using exchange formats that are compatible with Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, during which many things will change, such as legends, table texts, cross-references, graphics, and more. All these changes will have an important impact on the translated document layout and will require review, resizing, re-pagination and final rebuilding of the automatic document features to regenerate language specific table of contents, indexes, etc.

At BIOTRAN, we will always use the original artwork, templates and document masters to republish the translated documents. Our objective is to produce the localized materials which accurately reflect the original, while complying with the linguistic and typography of each target language.
